Buffalo Zoo Brings the Prehistoric World to Life with Destination Dinosaur

Visitors to the Buffalo Zoo can travel back millions of years this year with the debut of Destination Dinosaur, an immersive, family-friendly exhibit featuring life-size animatronic dinosaurs, interactive activities, and educational experiences.

Running from May 2 through Oct. 31, 2026, Destination Dinosaur transforms the Zoo into a prehistoric landscape where guests can come face-to-face with some of history's most fascinating creatures. Designed to entertain and educate visitors of all ages, the limited-time attraction combines realistic dinosaur displays with hands-on experiences that spark curiosity about the ancient world.

"We're thrilled to be able to share this unforgettable, prehistoric journey with our community," said Buffalo Zoo President and CEO Lisa Smith. "Walking the Destination Dinosaur trail offers an up-close and personal encounter with giant creatures that roamed the Earth more than 100 million years ago. It's an experience designed to spark curiosity, inspire the imagination, and create lasting memories for guests of all ages."

Along the Destination Dinosaur trail, visitors will encounter more than a dozen life-size animatronic dinosaurs, including fan favorites such as the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex, the horned Triceratops, and the towering Giganotosaurus. The dinosaurs move, roar, and are strategically placed throughout the exhibit, with some soaring overhead, others concealed within lush foliage, and several appearing to graze alongside the trail, creating an immersive prehistoric adventure.

The exhibit also features interactive attractions that encourage exploration and learning. Families can uncover ancient discoveries at a fossil excavation pit, snap photos at themed photo stations, and attend dinosaur-themed presentations at the Zoo's Center Stage.

Guests looking to enhance their visit can purchase the Destination Dinosaur Ultimate Ride Pass for $20. The single-day pass includes unlimited rides on the Zoo's carousel and train, along with access to the Dinosaur Evolution Virtual Reality Ride, offering even more prehistoric excitement.

Destination Dinosaur will be available for a limited time through Halloween, giving families, dinosaur enthusiasts, and curious explorers plenty of opportunities to experience one of the Buffalo Zoo's biggest attractions of the season.
