Explore Automotive History at the Northeast Classic Car Museum

Car enthusiasts, history lovers and families looking for a unique indoor adventure can take a journey through more than a century of transportation history at the Northeast Classic Car Museum. Recognized as an official New York State Path Through History Site, the museum is the largest car museum in the Northeast and features more than 200 cars, trucks and motorcycles on display.

Located in Norwich, New York, the museum offers visitors an opportunity to explore the evolution of transportation through an impressive collection of historic vehicles. From some of the earliest electric automobiles and steam-powered vehicles to the development of the internal combustion engine, the exhibits tell the story of how transportation has changed over generations.

The collection includes a wide variety of vehicles representing different eras of automotive history. Visitors can explore prewar and postwar automobiles, powerful muscle cars and vehicles with strong connections to New York State. Among the unique displays is the Chenango Camper, which was made in Norwich and represents the area's own place in transportation history.

One of the museum's standout attractions is its extensive collection of Franklin luxury automobiles. Built in Syracuse, Franklin cars were known for their distinctive air-cooled engines, and the museum is home to the largest display of these historic vehicles.

Most of the museum's automobiles are presented in showroom condition, allowing visitors to appreciate the craftsmanship and design that made each vehicle special. But the experience is not limited to looking. Two vehicles are available for hands-on interaction, giving guests a chance to connect more directly with automotive history. Visitors can also have their photo taken in a Model T, creating a memorable souvenir from their trip.

The Northeast Classic Car Museum also goes beyond automobiles. Period fashions, original videos and displays of World War I and World War II airplane engines add additional historical context to the experience. A special tribute honors the Bennett-Ireland Companies, a major Norwich manufacturer during the 20th century, highlighting another important chapter in the region's industrial history.

There is always something new to discover, as the museum changes its themed exhibit annually in May. With more than 12,000 visitors each year, the attraction continues to draw guests interested in cars, innovation, military history and American culture.

Designed to be welcoming and accessible, the museum is located entirely on one level and is wheelchair accessible. Electric scooters are also available at no charge, making it easier for visitors to explore the expansive collection.

Before leaving, guests can stop by the museum's gift shop, which offers a selection of new and vintage diecast vehicles, books, toys and clothing.

Admission is $15 for adults and $8 for visitors ages 6 through 18. Children age 5 and under are admitted free.
