Attention New York schools, libraries, and youth programs! A game-changing opportunity is here to get kids outdoors—without breaking the bank.
New York State Parks has just announced that applications are open for the Connect Kids to Parks Field Trip Grant Program for the 2025 season, giving schools and organizations the chance to take students on fully reimbursed trips to state parks, historic sites, and public lands. This initiative is part of Governor Hochul’s "Unplug and Play" strategy, designed to get children off screens and into the great outdoors.

What Does the Grant Cover?
Eligible public and non-public schools, municipalities, libraries, and nonprofits can apply for full reimbursement of transportation costs (including tolls and parking) for field trips to New York State and National Parks, historic sites, and public lands. The program is open to all schools located in a district that receives Title 1 funding, ensuring that children from underserved communities have access to enriching outdoor experiences.
"Children thrive when they spend time in parks, nature, and historic places," said Randy Simons, Commissioner Pro Tempore of the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. "This program helps youth discover and appreciate the exceptional parks and public lands in their home state."
How to Apply
Schools and organizations must prequalify in the Statewide Financial System and obtain a Vendor ID number before submitting an application.
Applications must be submitted at least six weeks before the planned trip (and no earlier than six months in advance).
Grants are awarded on a rolling basis while funding lasts—so apply ASAP!
