Injured Hiker Airlifted After Wilderness Rescue in Dry Brook Ridge Wild Forest

MIDDLETOWN, NY — A hiker was airlifted to Albany Medical Center following a lengthy rescue operation in the Dry Brook Ridge Wild Forest in Delaware County.
On June 29, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Ray Brook Dispatch received a call from a hiking group reporting that one of their members had sustained an unstable ankle injury approximately three miles from the trailhead.
Forest Rangers and local fire department personnel responded to the scene, hiking into the remote area to reach the injured individual. The subject was stabilized and placed in a wheeled litter for evacuation.
Rescuers carried the hiker back to the trailhead, arriving around 11:45 p.m. At that point, EMS requested a medevac to transport the individual to Albany Medical Center for further treatment.
There have been no further updates on the condition of the injured hiker at this time.
