Sylvan Beach Canal Fest Returns This Weekend With Fireworks, Vendors and Family Fun

SYLVAN BEACH, N.Y. — One of Central New York’s favorite summer celebrations is returning to the shores of Oneida Lake as Sylvan Beach Canal Fest takes over the village from Friday, August 7, through Sunday, August 9, 2026.

The three-day festival will bring together family-friendly activities, waterfront entertainment, local vendors and classic Sylvan Beach attractions for a weekend celebrating the community’s connection to Oneida Lake and the historic Erie Canal.

Canal Fest is scheduled to begin at approximately 5 p.m. Friday and continue through 5 p.m. Sunday at locations throughout Sylvan Beach.

A Weekend of Fun on the Water and Shore

Visitors can expect a variety of activities taking place both on land and along the waterfront.

Planned festival highlights include:

  • Local craft, food and merchandise vendors

  • A water-ski show

  • The traditional Blessing of the Boats

  • A children’s fishing derby

  • Family-friendly activities and entertainment

  • Fireworks over Oneida Lake

The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor says the celebration will feature vendors, a water-ski show, the Blessing of the Boats and a kids’ fishing derby among the many activities offered throughout the weekend.

Fireworks Over Oneida Lake

One of the most anticipated moments of Canal Fest will arrive Saturday night when fireworks light up the sky above Sylvan Beach.

The 2026 Sylvan-Verona Beach Tourism calendar lists the Canal Fest fireworks for Saturday, August 8, after dark.

Festivalgoers are encouraged to arrive early, explore the village and find a viewing location along the beach or waterfront before the show begins.

Fireworks and outdoor activities may be affected by weather conditions.

Explore Everything Sylvan Beach Has to Offer

Canal Fest is also a perfect opportunity to enjoy the many restaurants, shops and attractions that make Sylvan Beach one of Upstate New York’s most recognizable summer destinations.

Families can spend the day relaxing on the beach, visiting the amusement district, enjoying waterfront dining or walking through the village before taking part in the evening festivities.

Located along the eastern shore of Oneida Lake and beside the Erie Canal, Sylvan Beach has long served as a popular destination for boating, fishing, swimming and summer entertainment.

Support Local Vendors and Businesses

In addition to providing a weekend of entertainment, Canal Fest helps bring visitors into the village and supports the local restaurants, shops, attractions and small businesses that depend on the summer tourism season.

Vendor areas will give festivalgoers the opportunity to discover handmade products, gifts, food and other locally offered items.
